Did You Know?
Claudja Barry is an actress known for her performance in the European versions of stage musicals AC/DC and Catch My Soul.
At the age of 6, her family emigrated from Jamaica to Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. After high school, she moved to London, started acting, and ended it up in Germany to produce Catch My Soul.
In Germany is where Jurgen Korduletsch produced all her albums.
"Feel the Fire" was released in 1980 and subsequently became highly synthesized.
In 1981, she had a club hit, “Radio Action” that made it to a humble #57 on the charts. The album it came from “Made in Hong Kong” is what got her into the Hi-NRG and New Wave scene.
In 1985, she made her appearance in the movie Rappin, starring Mario Van Peebles. She released the single "Born to Love" the same year, which sounded similar to a Pet Shop Boys or Erasure song. Jurgen Korduletsch and Bobby Orlando produced the song.
In 1986, “Down and Counting” stayed #1 for 7 days on the Hot Dance Music play chart. She also had half a dozen top 10 hits!
