He was an Italian film composer and scored over 200 films.
Spaghetti Westerns, Giallo, and Mondo, were his predominant Italian genres.
He also scored many Hollywood movies and has had some of his compositions reused in films like Drive and Django Unchained.
"More" is his most well-known composition. He created it for the infamous movie Mondo Cane.
"More" won a Grammy in 1964 for Best Instrumental Theme and a Best Original Song nomination at the Academy Awards. Frank Sinatra, Kai Winding, Andy Williams, Roy Orbison, and others covered the song.
In the early 50's he was the founder and member of a well-known Italian jazz band.
The Worlds Soundtrack Academy gave him the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
He was the youngest of six children, and his father gave him a violin at age 4, which he later switched to the flute after injuring his elbow in a car accident.
He served as a musician in the Italian Air Force orchestra.
