Do you know this about the band Kano?
Kano was active from 1979 to 1984.
"I'm Ready," Kano's première single and international hit of 1980, combined components of 1970s funk, disco, and R&B while also using synthesizers percussive handclaps and raw-processed and vocoder-ized vocals. It topped off at the 21st spot on the U.S. Black Singles chart.
"I'm Ready" was also sampled on numerous songs, such as Gigolo Tony's 1986 hit "Hoki Poki" and Rofo's 1983 hit "Flashlight on a Disconight." The most well-known use of it is on Tag Team's 1993 "Whoomp! (There It Is)."
"Ahjia," "Now Baby Now," and "Cosmic Voyager" are hits from their self-titled album.
"It's a War" and "Ahjia" peaked at the number 2 spot on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and stayed there for five weeks.
They recorded two additional albums, including 1981's New York Cake and 1983's Another Life. Both of these albums introduced Kano listeners to West Indian-born singer Glen White.
Their last song was 1985's "This Is the Night."
