Do You Know this about boys town gang?
Boys Town Gang's cover of "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" became no.1 in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain as well as No.4 in the UK, officially peaking their popularity
They were associated with Moby Dick Records, a small disco record label founded by DJ Bill Motley and Victor Swedosh in 1980. Its headquarters were in the Castro District of San Francisco. Swedosh also owned a gay bar by the same name, which opened in 1977
In 1980 Bill Motley got at an opportunity to form a disco group that catered to San Francisco's large gay customers. In his quest to create a group, he auditioned hundreds of vocalists, both male and female. Local Cabaret singer Cynthia Manley captured the leading position.
When "Remember Me"/"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" was launched, the song took off with Manley's vocals blasting the music to the club charts' top.
The four-act explicit "Crusin' the Streets" was a picture of San Francisco's South of Market District – Ringold Alley at sundown.
Manley died, and Jackson Moore took over lead-vocals in 1981 for the band’s second album Disc Charge. It contained three charting disco edits that were also on “Top of The Pops” in the UK: "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You," "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)," "Come and Get Your Love"
