Did you know this about the ebm pioneers Vomito Negro?
The group Vomito Negro, which translates to Black Vomit in both Spanish and Portuguese, is an out-of-the-box Belgian Electronic band formed in 1983.
Like many other European Industrial style electronic bands, their style was eclectic, and they approached each track individually. Their singles ranged from danceable to meditative, and the EBM band's style has been described in many ways, such as - vintage dark-electronics and harsh electro.
In an interview with El Garaje de Frank, the band said they were influenced by "Industrial German bands and British synth bands" such as John Fox and Cabaret Voltaire.
The band created most of their samples but took some vocals from movies and never used sample libraries.
In 1989 the band released singles such as "Chicago Cave" and "Baby needs Crack." Band members inspired the dark lyrics of the tracks in active drug addiction at the time.
The band released a cassette in collaboration with Liquid G in 1989 called "Musical Art Conjunct of Sound."
In 1990 Vomito Negro released an album, Human, where half of the album consisted of instrumental tracks. They later said that the record company pushed them to release more albums, and this album was the result.
Following dissatisfaction with their 2002 studio album Fireball, Gin Devo took a break from Vomito Negro and recorded other music such as "Vamp." While reflecting on the failed album, Gin said, "The electro scene was death, and Fireball was a very bad album, so it suddenly stopped."
In 2008 Gin resurrected Vomito Negro.
Borg, a member of Gin Devo's side project, Pressure Control, joined the band. The group became known for presenting captivating sound and imagery on stage.
The duo toured Europe in 2008-2009 while they were also working on an album.
After the band released the EP "Slave Nation," the album entered the German electro web-charts and stayed there for eight weeks.
In 2010 the band also released a double album Skull & Bones & "The 2K10 re-makes" with Out of Line Records – Skull & Bones entered the German Alternative Charts (DAC) 10th position and then climbed to 2nd.
The remake of their club classic "Move Your Body (V2K10)" entered the DAC's single charts and reached 13th place.
Before releasing Skull & Bones, the band tested many singles on the crowd at WGT Festival in Leipzig and Bimfest in Antwerp.
Vomito Negro's - The Fall of an Empire album was released in January 2013. It was the band's first album with Sven Kadanza. The album remained faithful to the band's roots and was uncompromised, staying clear of any form of the cyber techno trend of the time.
The band released "Death Sun" in 2014. The track was created using only electronic hardware, and no plugins or software was used to produce the album. The band released the album Black Plague in 2017, also in the original and unique Vomito Negro style.
Having been around for over 25 years, Vomito Negro is still a staple name in the club scene.
Gin Devo recently said that he was editing and remixing the pre-1984 recordings to release on limited vinyl. They also have an album planned with Sandy Nys. The new album will be called Two Kings.
