Do you know this about the Human League?
Martyn Ware and Ian Marsh are former members of The Human League.
Heaven 17 performed only one live show during their initial career. It was on the UK TV show The Tube in 1986, but they used backing tapes. It wasn't until 1997 they played their first full live show. Which was also the year Martyn Ware left the band.
They get their name from a pop band in Anthony Burgess's novel, A Clockwork Orange; The fictitious Heaven 17 are number four on the charts in his book.
They created the production company British Electric Foundation.
BBC banned their song, "(We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang." BBC thought its ideals slandered Ronald Reagan's recent Presidential position.
Their first album, Penthouse and Pavement made it to number fourteen on the UK Album Chart.
In 1983 they provided and produced backing vocals for Tina Turner's song "Let's Stay Together."
