Do you know this about the french band space?
Marouani had already had some fame as a solo pop singer.
Marouani chose the band name "Space" based on others’ feedback, saying the music sounded like it came from space.
They were considered part of the brief Space Disco genre until 1982 when they went more new wave.
They mostly performed in spacesuits; In fact, it was part of Marouani's contract with Polydor.
They have been performing reenactments of their earlier years since 1992.
The song "Magic Fly" was first written for a 1976 astrology tv show.
Their first three albums, "Magic Fly," "Deliverance," and "Just Blue," sold over 12 million records internationally.
In 1978 conflict arose after Marouni's producer Jean-Phillippe Itiesco canceled a Paris show because Marouni wanted to perform live even with limited synthesizer capabilities would have made it tricky. A big reason Marouni eventually left a year later.
Romanelli and Jannick Top continued with the release of "Deeper Zone" in 1980, and in 1981 they also broke up.
From 1982 Marouani and Joe Hammer performed and recorded as "Didier Marouani & Space" with Janny Loseth of Titanic as lead vocalist. The new name they gave themselves was Paris-France-Transit in response to legal action. Hammer left "Didier Marouani & Space" in 1992.
