Do you know this about kraftwerk?
Kraftwerk is internationally known as architects of electronic music. Since then, their popularity help put the genre on the map of popular music.
Before all the synthesizers, vocoders, drum machines, and Casio calculators, they were a part of West Germany's krautrock scene.
"Robot pop," is their self-described style of pop and electronic music. Uniform rhythms and matching suits all helped magnify the style.
Their music has influenced several genres and artists of yesteryear and today, such as techno, synth pop, and ambient.
Artists like Daft Punk, Gary Numan, Afrika Bambaataa, David Bowie, and ol' I'm going to run for president Kanye West are among the influenced.
The massive cerebral pioneer of electronic music, Aphex Twin, a constructor of genres such as IDM (Intelligent Dance Music), said: Kraftwerk's album "Computer World" heavily inspired his sound.
Schneider and Hutter met as students in the late 1960's. They were in a band called Organisation, which released the album Tone Float in 1969 before their split.
Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger from the band Neu were among the initial Kraftwerk members.
The Recording Academy gave Kraftwerk a Lifetime Achievement award in 2014. They also won a Grammy Award for Best Dance and Electronic album for their live 3-D The Catalogue album in 2018.
