Trust No Women

Song by ZYX

ZYX is a grand duo from Vienna, Austria, formed by Inge Graf and Walter Zyx. This excellent combination was formed in 1977, and commitment towards "Progressive views" began.

Their aestheticization of everyday life involved many fields, including photography, music, graphic design, and many more.

The subtleness of the beauty was dedication and influence from Pop art, Futurism, Dadaism, Beat culture, and psychedelic rock of the 60s and 70s. Their music was vastly influenced by post-punk music that automatically led them into the synth-wave world.

The duo from the hometown of "classical music" is considered a pioneer of multimedia culture. In the era of electronic music, there is perhaps no DJ nor a producer who is not acknowledging the power of these two.

"Trust No Woman" was a debut album from ZYX and was initially released in 1981 on the RCA music label. Both production and mastering took place in 1981 in their very own studio in Vienna. Ten tracks that are featured are majorly embracing the cold new-wave movement.

This exceptional album showcases mechanical and robotic beats, with a touch of very cold snares and hi-hats. The slow mechanical album is full of natural actions—live recordings like coughing, mumbling, and breathing. The little details are wrapping up a futuristic utopian album that was and is original work.

The whole album is a continuation of a bombardment feeling. The mixture of the cold 80s merged with the previous footsteps of the musical era, and at the same time, tripped with the "robotic" and futuristic feeling.

In most of the tracks, we hear the low-key cold vocals. These so-called "shallow" touches create suspense and a dark ambiance throughout the whole journey. Short but vigorous tracks make some unforgettable steps in musical history.

We've encountered this album in many different DJ sets, especially IDM sets, where boundaries are smashed. And many melomaniacs have recalled the ZYX duo as the shakers of the 80s.

"Trust No Woman" itself is an independent track as well. A mellow and, in a way, a monotonal track that is hitting around 87 BPM. The sudden appearance of analog synths, synced with the cold voiceovers: Key signature move for futurism, that in summary is shaping one rigid and cold score.

The dramaturgy of the track is "in a way looped." Just like it was frozen, with a couple of exceptions. And that is the real subtleness and purity behind these two pioneers.

But, despite the gloomy ambiance highlighting the era of the 80s, there is this lingering part of the so-called "hope." It addresses the future that has to come: multimedia and the era of technology that dominated the world after the 80s.

These steps towards futurism led the ZYX duo to the history of the new wave, synth-pop, and minimalism.

It's a must-listen track and album for everyone out there who loves to hear experimental, cold, and tricky music.

She has been collecting music since her teenage years. The collection always involved varieties of the field: Classical, Experimental, Ambient, Disco, Electro, Drum & Bass, House, Hip-Hop, Synth-Wave, and many more. Hence, with the wide collection, a couple of years ago she started to play in the local clubs and bars.

Her major fascination is revolving around lost and undiscovered jams, from all over the world.

Currently, she is in the mindset of writing and delivering unrecalled stories. Digging up many different countries’ prodigies, their labels albums, and forgotten history.
