Another Life

Song by Kano

Kano was the Italian music project formed in Milan, Italy, in 1979 by keyboard player Stefano Pulga, guitarist Luciano Ninzatti and producer Matteo Bonsanto. Its symbiosis with different styles and genres led to innovation. It was initially designed by mixing the sounds of 70's disco music with the new electronic sound of the decade about to begin.

Kano was among the pioneers of Italo Disco music, and with their second single, "I'm Ready," they positioned themselves as an essential group of the Italo genre.

"I'm ready" immediately became a classic in breakdance audience, reaching as far as #21 place in the US single black chart. Subsequently, the musicians entrusted the vocal part of their songs, Another Life and Queen of Witches, to the black voice of Glen White so that the same performer will often be identified during the television performances with the name of Kano.

"Another Life" is the third and final Kano album from 1983, most notably successful due to the single from the same name; however, "Another Life" was also released on different labels and several different versions.

The original track is with the runtime 7:14, and the radio edit is 5:05. There are some issues of the song where they have placed a short edit of "Another Life" with the runtime of 3:49.

The song was written by Italian pop singer Anna Milena Cantù (Mamared), Barbara Lynn Addoms, Stefano Pulga, and Luciano Ninzatti.

Composed by Stefano and Luciano and produced by Matteo Bonsanto. The audio engineer for "Another Life" was legendary Massimo Noè, who contributed wonderful mixes for more than 200 Italo Disco releases.

"Another Life" was primarily released on the Italian label "Full Time Records," which is recognized as one of the most prestigious Italian dance music labels. Following the releases on German label TELDEC, Spanish "Hispavox," Mexican "Musart," UK's "Epic Records" and a lot more issues on different labels, it definitely got attention to a bigger audience worldwide. It topped the Italian charts on place #23, German on #10, and Swiss charts on position #8.

The track was produced with heavy use of synthesizers. The bassline is made with Prophet 5 following with heavy use of legendary Yamaha DX7 for the bells and chords. Stefano used the lead melody, probably his favorite synth, a legendary unbeatable mono synth Minimoog.

"Another Life" is an epic song that was sampled many times, and parts of the song made some big hits in modern dance music like Junior Jack's "Life" and Nero's "Reaching Out."

In the post 00's era, Kano found its way to the collectors, and that their music was revitalized by the artists of the new era.

Some musicians like Kavinsky made themselves visible to a greater audience thanks to the works of Kano. Kavinsky sampled the "Ikeya-Seki" title from the Another Life LP and named it "Grand Canyon." That EP launched his career, but shamefully Kano remains uncredited for the work.

This one is a pure banger, a must-know track that changes the perception of the listener. It is an inspiring piece that will last and inspire new musicians forever.
